Arrested Thief Says He Has Forgotten His Real Name
There was a mix of confusion and wild cracks of laughter in Fijai, a town boarded within the Sekondi-Takoradi area when a neighbourhood thief was arrested.
The man,in his early twenties, was caught on Saturday dawn with items including footwears, bags, crates of eggs and some clothes in his custody.
Having been apprehended on his way to recovering the items he had hid, at a time he thought many of the dwellers in the community were still asleep, the young thief feigned memory loss, insisting he had forgotten his actual birth name when asked by the people who had caught him.
He kept insisting that he had forgotten his real name when he was repeatedly asked about his true identity.
However, after being exhausted with questions and pressings, he succumbed and said, some people call him “Shaggy” but he did not know if he was the one or not, causing onlookers to burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Community local government representative of the area, Bismark Koomson, in his report to local radio station,Connect FM, poured out details of the arrest saying,
“he had succeeded to pile up some items including personal effects believed to have been stolen from a boutique and hid in an uncompleted building and was coming for them but a resident who had seen the items and become suspicious laid ambush and organized his arrest around 4am,”.
He has since been handed over to the Sekondi Police.
